Heather Blair
I got my first dog when I was 12 years old (12 years too late in my opinion!) She was a beautiful Golden Retriever, Tawny, who was our cherished family pet until her passing of old age in 2007. She will always be missed. Tawny was the light of my little adolescent life. I had wanted a dog since I learned to speak the word, and the day we got her moved me to tears. As a youngster myself, I trained Tawny every trick I could think of, including how to walk across a ladder laying on the ground and of course, all the basics, like shake, and roll over. She played tag, and hide & seek, and between my parents, and my brother and I, she never had a dull moment. As I grew, I found out just how much I loved dogs, and began to self educate on breeds, differences, what specific dogs were bred for, traits, characteristcs, health issues, and more. I joined online forums with other people "in-the-dog" and continued to learn more and more. I enrolled Luke in some Flyball classes at Happy Go Lucky Dog Training and learned how amazing it is to take classes and learn something new when working with your dog. As I continued to learn more and more, I decided I wanted to work towards my CPDT (Certified Pet Dog Trainer). I picked up the phone, called Happy Go Lucky Dog Training, and got on a volunteer basis, just watching and learning. Now, I assist 6 classes a week, and love every minute of it.
The relastionship between human and dog never ceases to astound me. It's this bond that drives me to be a trainer. Improving the relationship between humans and their dogs is the most rewarding thing in my life. Watching people beam with pride as their puppy sits, their adult dog goes into a down-stay, and the active breed goes through it's first agility tunnel is truly where I find joy. If someone needs help, and I can give them the tools they need, and be there for support, and get them and their dog to co-exist in harmony, then I've done my job. And it's the best one in the world.

Lucas Skywalker Blair (Luke)
Luke is a 10 year old smooth coated Border Collie out of Moscow, Idaho, and the dog that started it all! Having a brilliant, active, herding dog really kindled my love of training. Luke learned even though I didn't know all the tools for teaching. I always say that he was "born good", because he forgave my mistakes, and learned everything I ever wanted him to do--even if I couldn't quite figure out how to teach it. I was 19 when I saw my little black & white boy in a cage. He was getting too big for it, and all alone and small, and of course, adorable! I fell in love immediately, and got him before I knew a danged thing about the Border Collie breed. Like all first dog owners (and humans in general) I made mistakes. And this little heart dog of mine learned and grew and became the amazing dog he is today. He's a pure joy to work with, is completely determined to do what you ask, and is a massive ball junkie. **Beware** Luke is known to turn "non-dog" people in to true dog lovers!
Sophia Sunshine Blair
This gorgeous pup came from Welch Farms first breeding in May of '08. Armed with more knowledge and dog skills, Sophie has blossomed at a young age. We herd sheep out in Battleground, WA and she loves every minute of it! Sophie is a natural working dog with great style. Being a young 18 mos, she has a little more spirit than thought process, but we're just beginning! Aside from being the most beautiful dog many people have ever seen, she's a pure joy! Full of silly antics, from snoring when she's exhausted, to trying desperately to be included in all activities, my little Sunshine Pup makes me glow with pride. She's a smart, sweet, senstive girl who just wants to be close, busy, and cherished. And I assure you, she is! As she continues to thrive with training, we plan on working on some amateur agility, and perhaps some flyball. I love watching her learn and grow. Thanks Nate & Katrina for my wonderful girl-pup!
